Acupuncture Might Just Be One Of The Best Things You Can Do To Your Body

Acupuncture is one of the oldest medical practices around the world. The process of acupuncture involves inserting very thin needles in specific places on the body. It originated in China over 200 years ago [1] and from there it spread to all corners of the world. Is mostly used alongside regular medicinal treatments for a vast variety of problems.

It can help treat a lot of problems like tonsillitis, migraines, asthma, infertility, bronchitis, etc. According to some, like the Mayo Clinic [2]. It can also help alleviate nausea after chemotherapy, labor pains, and menstrual cramps. Some even use it as a method to battle addiction.

What Is The Secret Behind It?

The theory behind acupuncture is that your body’s energy flows are blocked or obstructed and that with the careful insertion of needles in specific areas, that flow can be restored. The belief comes from traditional Chinese culture which beliefs in Chi and Qi as a part of every living being [3]. The blockage of those Qi or Chi channels can accumulate fluid and cause pain and swelling. Those blockages can also stop vital nutrients from reaching your organs which causes fatigue and weakness.

Acupuncture experts can find these blockages and clear them by inserting thin needles into certain spots in your body. Those needles are of course sterilized and clean. After piercing the specific spots, they may be left for up to 40 minutes inside. And sometimes they are slightly being moved or used to deliver a small amount of electric current.

Does it Hurt?

Acupuncture

Despite what you may be thinking, it doesn’t! The feeling is best described as a slight tingling and warmth. Of course, this doesn’t have to be the case always, so if you are experiencing pain or unease, inform the practitioner right away!

A good thing about acupuncture is that there aren’t really any big side effects. [4] The only ones you might get are soreness, bleeding, or bruising. And that will happen with inexperienced practitioners. But there are multiple benefits.

Acupuncture works well with other treatments and it is highly personalized. Most people feel a lot better after and have noticed positive changes.

There are a couple of different types of acupuncture.

  • Body acupuncture – is the most popular one. It focuses on inserting fine needles and mild electrical currents over the body in order to cause relief.
  • Electro-acupuncture – this involves rotating the inserted needles and letting a slight current thought in order to cause a slight tingling sensation.
  • Auricular Acupuncture – it mostly revolves around the outer ear and small points believed to represent your whole body.
  • Acu-Acoustics and Acupressure – this method focuses on specific points that are massaged and pressed in order to relieve pain in parts of the body.

Some of these methods can be learned at home and used to treat yourself and others without any issue. One of the programs that teach such things is the Natural Synergy System.
